Natural Networks CIC
Our mission is to empower individuals and communities in Bristol and the surrounding areas, particularly those facing disadvantage, through inclusive and accessible outdoor learning opportunities.
Natural Networks began as a locally driven collective of outdoor practitioners and volunteers, working collaboratively with community partners to deliver engaging, nature-based activities that connect people with the natural environment. Since formalising our mission through registration as a Community Interest Company in late 2024, we have grown our scope and impact. We now offer accredited Forest School and Outdoor Learning training for educators and community practitioners , alongside a broad programme of activities designed for children, young people, and families across Bristol, fostering connection, growth and wellbeing through meaningful time outdoors.
Our Story
Before registering as a CIC, our team of outdoor practitioners spent years delivering Forest School, outdoor play, and nature based programmes in green spaces across Bristol. Founded by Jabez Croney, Géraldine Roul and Patrick Murtagh in December 2024 marked our evolution from freelance practitioners and volunteers to an established CIC, a milestone that strengthened rather than replaced our local connections.
Natural Networks builds on people’s connection to nature and others, through inclusive outdoor learning in Bristol and surrounding areas, focusing on well-being, inclusion, and environmental appreciation. We support communities with free or affordable programmes, including forest school, outdoor cooking, outdoor play, and environmental stewardship.
Our work supports:
- Bringing people together from all walks of life and supporting connection and belonging
- SEND-inclusive experiences
- People seeking training and employment pathways
- Families affected by poverty
- Marginalised groups
-
Children and young people who may be at risk
Key delivery locations include:
- Heart of BS13 Climate Action Hub
- Manor Woods Valley
- St Mary Redcliffe Churchyard
- Springfield Community Allotments
- Imayla Green Space in St Paul’s
- We also work in city farms, local parks and green spaces across Bristol and the surrounding areas, bringing nature-based experiences directly into communities.
Our Programmes - Youth & Play
Our programmes give children and young people the chance to learn, play, make new friends and thrive outdoors. Led by skilled outdoor practitioners and supported by local volunteers, sessions are designed to build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine connection with nature and community. From forest school skills, outdoor exploration and hands-on environmental projects, learning happens naturally – through experience.
Whether children are climbing trees, building shelters, cooking over an open fire, or simply enjoying the calm of the natural environment, every session supports well-being and resilience.
We offer Forest School, bushcraft, outdoor play, environmental social action, community events, and adventure trips and residentials. Each programme and experience is carefully planned and child-led, encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, independence, and care for the natural world. Children and young people leave with new skills and a stronger sense of themselves and their place in their community.
Work and Volunteer With Us
Our Forest School thrives thanks to the energy and dedication of our team of local volunteers and outdoor practitioners who share a love for nature and community. Whether you’re experienced or just curious, there’s a place for you to help engage and inspire the next generation through outdoor learning.
No special skills are needed, just a willingness to get involved, learn alongside others, and enjoy the outdoors.
